"templates" Folder

What does this folder do?

This folder contains all HTML templates, and the *.xsl transform files.

Together these files contain all the information required to cosmetically alter the pages, scripts, and other output created by 20/20 DataShed. By customizing these files you can:

Permissions and Security

Server

This folder may inherit the permissions from its parent folder; but also requires that the IUSR_<localmachinename> (or equivalent) user account have NTFS permissions to delete files, alter file names, and read the files.

For comprehensive NTFS file and folder permission settings please see File/Folder Security (NTFS Permissions).

Internal

Permission to alter file names or delete files in this folder is controlled within 20/20 DataShed - only users who belong to a security role which allows them to alter category names or delete categories can perform this activity. For example, if HTML templates exit for a specific main category, then those templates will be automatically renamed and/or deleted if the main category is renamed and/or deleted.

How to Maintain

Location

This folder must be located in the parent folder of 20/20 DataShed. Errors will occur if this folder is relocated or does not exist.

Other Features

Item templates (such as "item_template().html", "summary(#)view_template.html", and "print_template()().html") can be duplicated or re-created for each individual main category. More information about this is provided in related pages of this documentation. This requires that you understand HTML and have read and understood the Tokens Reference in this documentation.

As well, this folder may contain any number of report_table().xsl files with which the "SQL Reports" can be formatted or customized to your liking. This requires that you understand the XML and XSL (or XSLT) language specifications.

How to Customize

Each file in this folder can be customized to your liking. More information is provided in this documentation specific to each file.

Warning

Files contained in this folder may be customized, however you must do so at your own risk; such activity is not supported by our license agreement and may void 20/20 Application's technical support obligations. Please read the Customization versus Modification page.
