dialogueAdminEmail.asp

What does this file do?

This file provides a basic email authoring tool whereby the administrators of 20/20 DataShed on your web site may write and send email messages to the users of 20/20 DataShed on your web site. This file is designed to provide a small-scale bulk-email tool suitable for sending newsletters, memos, or similar messages.

We recommend that you send no more than 50 messages at a time -- if you attempt to send many hundreds at once you can expect first: that the script will fail (and successfully send only a fraction of the outgoing messages); and second: that the script will cause your web site to temporarily suffer very poor performance.

For this reason, this tool is not a large-scale bulk-email tool. If you require that functionality then we recommend you search for a more suitable product which specializes in bulk mail.

Permissions and Security

Server

This file may inherit the permissions from its parent folder; but at the very least it requires that the IUSR_<localmachinename> (or equivalent) user account have NTFS permissions to read the file. On a related note, your web site must also have access to an SMTP (Outgoing email) server.

For comprehensive NTFS file and folder permission settings please see File/Folder Security (NTFS Permissions).

The contents of this file are protected by username and password authentication through the 20/20 DataShed application. Only those users who belong to a security role which allows access to this interface will be able to view this page.
