20/20 DataShed uses "tokens" inside the HTML templates to embed dynamic content into the otherwise static HTML markup that you create.
As the templates are processed and data is drawn from the database or other resources to be displayed in a web page, the tokens are replaced by dynamic content. In this manner, your HTML templates can be entirely your own creation and 20/20 DataShed then is used only to inject content into your web site.
There are various types of HTML templates used by 20/20 DataShed, these include:
A template to format the contact information of your users - when their account information is displayed on a web page.
Templates to format the outgoing email messages from the web site, such as when a new user registers on the site, or when a visitor "Sends the Page to a Friend"...these outgoing email message can be formatted to include your own content or stationary (perhaps including your web site's logo and some navigation).
Templates to format the display of search results and individual items.
Language Templates (in languages.xml) can be used to create a multi-lingual or international web site - and with careful planning you can even provide tools to your visitors and users so they can select they own language!
A template to format the basic layout of all pages created by 20/20 DataShed.
And a template to format the basic layout of the administrative pages of 20/20 DataShed.
Note that the product is shipped with a basic set of templates that will work well if you don't wish to create your own. However, if you're interested in customizing the layout and appearance of the product...then the sky's the limit. This section describes the "tokens" that you may use in your own templates to re-create 20/20 DataShed's output as you please.
