For Advanced Users

While 20/20 DataShed is fully functional "out-of-the-box" there are many ways to customize the product for use on your web site. Some of these activities however require an above-average understanding of web technologies such as HTML, XML, CSS, and so on.

Information in this section is provided as a reference to those users who are comfortable with these advanced concepts and wish to integrate custom tools or features with 20/20 DataShed.

This documentation is divided into the following sections:

• Advanced Concepts. Like the other topic, Key Concepts in the "Getting Started" section, this section explains concepts and terms that may help you understand 20/20 DataShed's features and tools. There are discussions about NTFS file/folder permissions as well as optimizing 20/20 DataShed on your web server to enhance or decrease its performance, and discussion about using 20/20 DataShed with other database formats.
• Advanced File Information. Like a reference guide, this section provides detailed information about important files in 20/20 DataShed's source code. This information will help you understand security settings, maintenance, and additional features.
• Extending 20/20 DataShed. For experienced webmasters who want to extend 20/20 DataShed's features by incorporating their own scripts and plug-ins.
• Internationalization. 20/20 DataShed can be adapted for use in any language supported by the Microsoft Server operating systems. In this section, we describe the steps that should be taken to customize (or translate) 20/20 DataShed for your own culture and language.
• Tokens Reference. A reference guide for all "tokens" made available to the HTML templates used by 20/20 DataShed. Using HTML templates you can customize the appearance of 20/20 DataShed so that it integrates seamlessly with other content on your web site.
• Glossary. A glossary of terms used within this documentation.
